Safety Buddies Needed
Safety is the most important thing for a search team to consider. If the team and their dogs are not safe then they are of no use to any poor casualty who needs them. CASST are looking for willing volunteers who would be willing to train to fill the position of Safety Buddy. These valued members of the team accompany the dogs and handlers to incidents. They are responsible for a lot of very important tasks e.g.
- Maintaining a search area record
- Dynamic Risk Assessment for the team
- Radio communications with search co-ordinators
- Dog & Handler safety monitoring
- Additional First Aid support
The list goes on further, but as you can imagine this is a very important part of what we at CASST do.
